چکیده

In vitro toxicological influence of culture filtrates of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (Sacc.) Snyder & Hans was investigated on seed germination, seedling growth and physiology of tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) under chromium(VI) stress. Original culture filtrates of the fungus and three concentrations of Cr(VI) viz. 50, 75 and 100 mg L1 were used in laboratory bioassays either alone or in different combinations. Experiment was carried out at 25 ± 2 °C in triplicate using completely randomized design and different growth and physiological assays were recorded in 15-days old tomato seedlings. Germination, growth and biomass was declined significantly up to 40%, 85% and 70% due to original culture filtrate of the F. oxysporum and by 40-60%, 10-50%, 50-80% under combine stress of original culture filtrate of the fungus along with increasing concentration of Cr(VI), and by 10-20%, 0-25% and 30-60% due to increasing concentration of Cr(VI) alone. Chlorophyll contents was significantly declined due to original culture filtrate of the F. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici alone or combined with Cr(VI), while non-significantly different due to solitary effect of Cr(VI) over control treatments. Whereas, catalase and peroxidase activities increased significantly in treatments supplemented with Cr(VI) alone or combination with fungus and decreased due to culture filtrate of fungus alone as compared to control. The present study concluded that culture filtrates of F. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici are hazardous to tomato seedlings either alone or in combination with Cr(VI).

Viability of Heterodera glycines Exposed to Fungal Filtrates.

Filtrates from nematode-parasitic fungi have been reported to be toxic to plant-parasitic nematodes. Our objective was to determine the effects of fungal filtrates on second-stage juveniles and eggs of Heterodera glycines. Eleven fungal species that were isolated from cysts extracted from a soybean field in Florida were tested on J2, and five species were tested on eggs in vitro. Each fungal sp...

Bio-management of root knot nematode and root rot disease by antagonistic fungi and rhizobacteria

Effects of four fungi and six rhizobacteria isolates from the rhizosphere of vegetable crops was studied for suppression of root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita and wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici on tomato in laboratory and pot culture experiment. All the isolates were isolated by serial dilution and cultured in liquid protein supplemented broth medium and culture filtr...

Studies on Fungal Cultural Filtrates against Adult Culex quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) a Vector of Filariasis

Entomopathogenic fungi have significant potential to control mosquito population. The culture filtrates of Fusarium oxysporum, Lagenidium giganteum, Trichophyton ajelloi, and Culicinomyces clavisporus were evaluated against adults of Cx. quinquefasciatus. The culture filtrates were obtained by filtering the broth through Whatman-1 filter paper. These culture filtrates of C. clavisporus have bee...

Control of Fusarium Oxysporum Causing Fusarium Wilt by Trichoderma Spp and Pseudomonas fluorescens on Arachis hypogaea L

Fusarium wilt diseases caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum lead to significant yield losses of crops. Biocontrol agents such asTrichoderma viride , Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescens are applied to control Fusarium wilt of Arachis hypogaea. Experiments were conducted on the effect of culture filtrates of T.viride (1%), T.harzianum (1.5%), and P. fluorescens (2%) on biochemica...

Evaluation of Plant Extracts against Fusarium Oxysporum F. Sp. Lycopersici, Wilt Pathogen of Tomato

Wilt is an important disease of tomato crop causing significant reduction in yield. In present study, the pathogenic fungus was isolated from infected plant and identified based on morphological and cultural characters as Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lycopersici whose pathogenicity was confirmed by Koch’s postulate on tomato seedling. In vitro evaluation of extracts of 20 plant species was done by p...
